Cara tutors English 177, 189, 255, and 353. She also instructs in the University of Calgary's certificate programs in professional writing and creative writing. Before this, she taught secondary English for ten years in Edmonton, Vancouver, Richmond, and Calgary. Her doctoral research focuses on inclusive pedagogical approaches for the creative writing workshop that promotes active learning and writer autonomy. Cara has been published in Prairie Fire and Free Fall, and won a number of prizes at UBC including the Penguin Random House Hazlitt Prize for Fiction. She lives on the West Coast and is readying her MFA thesis, a novel, for query.
