Robin Hedley Smith




Robin has a Master’s degree in English literature; she completed the course work for a doctorate at University of Alberta in the 70’s.

Her particular interest has been the development of the novel, specifically its presentation of family.  Her Master’s thesis was on the domestic scene in the eighteenth century novel, Tristram Shandy. Over the course of her career, she has developed and taught courses in folklore and aboriginal works, in children’s literature and in writing. Her current interest is contemporary Canadian fiction.

She has tutored for Athabasca University since 1978. She tutors English Prose Forms (211), English Poetry and Plays (212) and Children’s Literature (305).
